Maybe it’s Scorpio season talking, but I’m feeling called to dive into the deep end and share something personal today. And what I want to share is this: There are moments that change us in quiet but lasting ways…
For me, it was discovering a collection of health documentaries that touched something real inside me. They showed me truths about myself I needed to see, even if I hadn’t known I was looking. Every time I watch them, I cry – not because they’re sad, but because I recognize myself in them. These tears come from a place of understanding, of finally seeing my own story reflected back at me.
It’s strange and beautiful how watching these films taught me to be gentle with myself, showing me a path to healing I didn’t know I needed.
I had been dealing with health issues for years – gut problems since childhood, hormones that seemed to have a mind of their own, and anxiety and depression that made everyday life feel harder than it should. I was functioning, yes. But I was tired of just functioning. Traditional medicine and medications seemed to make everything worse instead of better.
Then I watched these documentaries – “HEAL” and “ALL THE RAGE, SAVED BY SARNO.” Something just clicked. You know that feeling when you finally find an answer you didn’t even know you were looking for?
The Part About Pain Nobody Tells You
What had the biggest impact on me was this: we’re not just bodies with symptoms to fix. We’re emotional beings, and our bodies are actually trying to tell us something through our physical symptoms.
Think about the millions of people suffering from chronic pain right now. They’re seeing doctors, getting tests, taking pills, having surgeries – spending thousands of dollars and still hurting. They feel lost and confused.
Both documentaries highlighted the powerful mind-body connection. ‘Heal’ revealed how emotions and trauma can manifest as illness, while Dr. Sarno’s work showed how our bodies might create physical pain to protect us from overwhelming emotions. As he famously said,
‘There’s nothing like a little physical pain to keep your mind off your emotional problems.’
Both films showed the same truth – when people healed their emotional pain, their physical symptoms often disappeared.
Mind Over Matter? Actually, Yes
Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.”
This isn’t just about positive thinking – it’s about understanding that our beliefs actually shape our healing journey.
If you believe your pain is purely physical, you’ll look for physical solutions. But what if some of that pain is your body’s way of protecting you from overwhelming emotions?
What if healing begins by just listening to your body?
When It All Clicked
These insights didn’t just change how I thought about health – they changed my entire life direction. I was so moved that I became a practitioner in both Reiki and EFT ‘tapping’. And while I now share this wisdom through writing, I’m excited to soon guide others as a mentor. Everything I learned about emotional and energy healing shapes the way I help others.
Think about your own life. How often do you:
- Push down anger to keep the peace?
- Say you’re “fine” when you’re not?
- Ignore stress until your body screams for attention?
The pressure of modern life has created an epidemic of chronic pain and illness. But healing doesn’t always require more medication or another surgery. Sometimes it starts with understanding the messages our bodies are sending us.
What Now?
As we dive deep this Scorpio season, remember:
- Your pain is real
- Your emotions matter
- Your body is trying to tell you something
- Healing is possible when we address both body and mind
If you’re dealing with chronic pain or health issues that just won’t quit, I have a suggestion that might change everything – just like it did for me.
Take an evening to watch “HEAL” and “ALL THE RAGE, SAVED BY SARNO.” (both available on Amazon Prime). .
My own healing journey began while watching others find their way back to health in these films. Maybe they’ll spark something in you too.
