It’s Cancer Season: Let’s Go with the Flow Instead of Constantly Resisting

Today is my son Danny’s 29th birthday. Our family celebrated with a backyard pool party yesterday, where the warm Cancer energy was obvious. The close connection between Danny and his friends perfectly embodied the nurturing spirit typical of Cancer season. This reminder of how zodiac energies can influence our lives inspired me to dive deeper into the world of the Crab this week.

Cancer season, the period when the sun travels through the Cancer constellation, runs from June 21st to July 22nd. In astrology, this means that Cancer traits will be felt by everyone, regardless of their sun sign.

Core Cancer Characteristics

Deeply Emotional. Cancers are known for their emotional sensitivity. Like their celestial symbol, the crab, they often have a tough exterior but a soft, sensitive core. This duality teaches us the delicate balance between protecting our energy and opening our hearts to others.

Intuition: Cancers, like all water signs, have an uncanny ability to sense others’ needs. According to astrologer Clare Comstock-Gay of the Cut, “they are skilled at reading the room and picking up on all the emotional undercurrents. Some people are deeply uncomfortable talking (or even feeling) their emotions, but those people probably aren’t Cancers.”

Nurturing Spirit: Cancers are natural caregivers. They are quite often the glue that holds relationships together. Their nurturing nature extends beyond people – many Cancers enjoy creating a comfy environment through cooking or interior design.

Emotionally Adaptable: Cancer’s ruling planet is the Moon, which governs our emotions and instincts. Like the constant changing moon phases, Cancers excel at adjusting themselves to acclimate to different situation. Their flexibility allows for deep empathy and understanding for others. However, it can also lead to moody behavior or difficulty setting boundaries.

As we move through the heart of Cancer season, our energy will naturally be drawn to the importance of home and relationships. Whether we gather for barbecues, beach trips, and family reunions, let’s embrace our ability to create and connect with those we love more deeply.

Let’s also appreciate the watery nature of Cancer and learn to go with the flow instead of constantly resisting. By allowing ourselves to move naturally towards what feels right, we can strengthen our emotional intelligence, nurture our relationships, and create comforting spaces.
