I first heard of Tapping a few years ago when I was searching for relief from depression. I ’d been dealing with some challenging family issues and my mood had steamrolled into a lack of motivation and irritability in my daily life. I knew I needed help, so I began my search on the internet to find some much-needed support. I discovered energy healing, a gentle holistic technique that promotes self-healing. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT); my favorite energy healing method that quickly diffuses anxiety with lasting effects.
EFT, aka “Tapping,” treats a range of issues, like anxiety, weight control, and chronic pain. It combines the principles of ancient Chinese acupuncture, conventional psychology, and cognitive/exposure therapy.
A self-administered treatment using the fingertips on specific meridian endpoints of the body, while focusing on negative emotions or physical sensations. The vibrating energy produced with tapping helps calm the nervous system, rewire the brain, and restore the body’s balance of energy.
EFT works so fast, sometimes I forget why I was upset. When a negative, electrical charge of a thought loosens, it can fade from memory rather quickly. The vibrating energy calms the nervous system, lessens the charge from a troubled thought by rewiring the brain, balances the energy of the body, and lowers the intensity of the thought.
1. IT’S SIMPLE
I love the simplicity of tapping. The steps are as easy as 1, 2, 3.
- Identify the thought and determine the level of discomfort between 1-10.
- Tap on the meridian points while thinking of the upsetting thought.
- Take a deep breath and a quick check-in to determine the reduced discomfort level.
2. IT’S SELF-HEALING (DIY)
I love that it’s a self-healing tool that I administer on myself anytime, anywhere. I can tap on one meridian for quick healing or spend time with a journal and tap on issues needing deeper healing. An empowering tool available whenever I need it.

3. IT’S SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN
I’ve always been a huge proponent of alternative medicine but once I studied energy healing and understood the science behind it, I knew I had to help others with it.
There are over 100 clinical trials that prove its efficacy including weight reduction, genetic expression, and PTSD.
One study showed improvement in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psychological distress symptoms with veterans receiving mental health services. The study consisted of 6-hour long EFT coaching sessions concurrent with standard care.
The EFT subjects had reduced symptom levels after testing. Ninety percent (90%) of the EFT group no longer met PTSD clinical criteria, compared with 4% in the non-EFT group. More studies here.
