May Day – A Childhood Memory

Happy May Day My Friends!!

May Day is an old celebrated tradition that I’m recognizing today since it reminds me of happy childhood moments. Family traditions and celebrations are an important part of a child’s life and I think we need to do our best to preserve the goodness that our ancestors created. As many try to erase and cancel our culture, we can find comfort in remembering our fond traditions and keeping them alive even if it’s only to remember those we love.

May Day celebrates the return of Spring and the halfway point between the Spring and Summer Equinox. It was once a custom to leave a May basket filled with flowers and treats at the door, knock, and run! As a kid, my mom would put together baskets for us to secretly leave on our neighbor’s front porch, ring the bell and hide. 🌺🌷

A sweet memory I have of my mom today.
